Black-and-white, often abbreviated B/W or B&W, is a term referring
to a number of monochrome forms in visual arts. Originally photography
was black-and-white or shades of sepia. Color photography was originally
rare and expensive, and often less than true to life. Since the advent
of color, black-and-white media often connotes something “nostalgic”,
historic, anachronistic or more subtle and artistic.
