Wicked Catherine – Femme Diabolique

Tuesday, July 26, 2011 0 comments

“What a wicked game you play / To make me feel this way / What a wicked thing to do / To let me dream of you / What a wicked thing to say / You never felt this way / What a wicked thing to do / To make me dream of you / And I don’t wanna fall in love / This love is only gonna break your heart / And I don’t want to fall in love / This love is only gonna break your heart / World was on fire / No one could save me but you… ” (Wicked Game – Chris Isaak)
“Wicked Game” is a 1989 song by Chris Isaak from his third studio album “Heart Shaped World” and it was released as a single in 1989, but it didn’t become a hit until it was later featured in the David Lynch film “Wild at Heart” in 1990. Lee Chesnut, an Atlanta radio station music director who was obsessed with David Lynch films, began playing the song and it quickly became a nationwide top ten hit in January 1991, reaching #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The Finnish band HIM remade this song, first using it in their demo This is Only the Beginning, then in their EP 666 Ways To Love: Prologue, then another recording on their first album Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666, and lastly on the British and American versions of their second album Razorblade Romance. I love both, the original Chris Isaak and the HIM cover as well.

Introducing "Wicked Catherine"‚ (Ekaterina Geerbrandt), from Moscow, Russia, born at 10, 09, 1985. She use the nickname “femmediabolique” (femme diabolique = evil woman), but she ain’t no evil – or wicked. She’s pretty, mysterious and… she’s just a woman. Dressed or not, a beautiful, expressive, charming woman. As always – beauty comes from the inside.
